Still life series shot as an unconscious response to a long-term relationship ending, made from objects we surrounded ourselves with, objects we found scavenge hunting, at travels and through mundane everyday life.
Objects have the power of internalize a great deal sets of emotions, values, and memories. Research shows the perceptual nature of the information stored in long-term memory (LTM) that allows us to recognize, identify, categorize, and perform perceptual skills on visual objects. I can ask you whether you saw this particular object recently (working memory), whether you have ever seen this object before (recognition memory), what category this object belongs to (classification), or to do something with an object (procedural task). All these tasks are encoded in memory.
As the photographic process is very much a tool for storage of moments and memory, research shows us also how smartphones and how we document our everyday lives mess with our memories. We pay less attention.
Looking back to the days I photograph the objects, it is like I unconsciously tried to erase the good memories in order to not feel sadness, and placing them in new environment through my lens.
